City Gates
The Gates of the City of Ponta Delgada are one of the architectural landmarks of the capital of the magnificent São Miguel Island, in the stunning Azores Archipelago.
Currently located in the city center, right at Gonçalo Velho Cabral Square, the Gates of the City were originally built in 1783 near the old dock, east of the city. They were later relocated to this prestigious location in 1952 due to the construction works of the equally significant and beautiful Infante D. Henrique Avenue.

The “Lagoa das Sete Cidades”, or the Lake of the Seven Cities, is one of the most famous spots in the Azores Archipelago, and once you see it, you understand why.
It’s an essential tourist destination on São Miguel Island, formed within the crater of a volcano. These lakes are the highlight of São Miguel Island, and some give them different names based on the distinct colors they display: Blue Lagoon and Green Lagoon. It is the largest freshwater lake in the Azores, covering approximately 4.3 square kilometers with a depth of 33 meters, designated as a Protected Landscape of the Natura 2000 Network.
